This new 350-bed, 105,000 square foot Residence Hall was sited to maximize natural sunlight into the southeast facing courtyard, to create a sense of place, and to be welcoming to residents of the building, neighboring residence halls and the campus community.
The building’s architectural vocabulary harkens back to the historic fabric of the original campus, while also incorporating elements respectful to the modern campus. This sensitive approach suggests a philosophy and pallet for the design of future residential buildings to be constructed on the EWU campus.
The Residence Hall incorporates extensive use of natural daylight that will penetrate into the corridors of the building. Windows are placed strategically at the ends of corridors to further the feeling of openness and views to the exterior.
Douglas Hyde Design served as Design Consultant for the project.
"ALSC was outstanding to work with on our Residence Hall project. The organization, professionalism, and willingness to go back to the drawing board resulted in a great facility for our students!"
