This project is much more than bricks, mortar and thoughtful planning. It represents the last 125 years of Spokane’s commitment to caring for its most at risk citizens and the tireless effort and contributions of thousands to strengthen our community.
The new Central Spokane YMCA/YWCA project represents a first-of-its-kind facility for these two organizations in our country. While the YMCA and YWCA's respective missions are different and unique, this project takes advantage of the common services and spaces the two organizations provide; capitalizing on shared spaces and resources such as a kitchen, café and meeting rooms.
The YMCA portion features a 12,000 square foot natatorium with lap and recreational swimming tanks, gymnasium, fitness center, aerobics and spinning rooms, teen center, family activity room, administrative support spaces and locker rooms.
The YWCA portion includes computer training rooms, clothing resource area, domestic violence counseling and visitation center, after school care center, administrative spaces and an exterior rooftop garden/event area.
