Fairchild Air Force Base Fitness Center

Fairchild Air Force Base, WA

The team of Lydig Construction and ALSC Architects was selected through a competitive design-build process to design and construct this new fitness center at Fairchild Air Force Base.

The facility includes a gymnasium, indoor pool, locker rooms, fitness equipment spaces, racquetball courts, elevated running track and associated support spaces. It also includes a health and wellness center and support facilities for the Water Survival Training Center.

The Center was designed to meet or exceed the requirements of UFC 4-010-01 DOD Minimum Antiterrorism Standard for Buildings including specified standoff distances for vehicles from the building, masonry exterior walls, blast-proof windows and skylights, and visual protection of main building entries from the base perimeter.

The envelope, mechanical system, controls, natural daylighting, energy efficient lighting and water reduction are designed to give this project a 35% operating cost advantage over code compliant construction. The building is LEED Gold certified.
