The modernization and expansion of Opportunity Elementary School is being designed to improve student safety, as well as meet Central Valley School District's current educational goals and objectives . The project includes a complete modernization of the existing 1968 vintage, 42,000 square foot building. A 31,000 square foot addition will also be constructed, providing a new gymnasium, additional classroom space, and a new community art room.
When completed, Opportunity will house up to 700 students.
The project will be phased, allowing students to remain in the building the entire time construction is taking place.
